Abstract:
Security services ensure the protection of persons, property, information, the environment or oversee the exercise of rights and fulfillment of duties within their remit. The scope of each security service is determined in particular by the relevant legislation. Security services offer a specific product - ensuring the required level of security. Whose security is ensuring largely dependent on the type of security service. In the case of private security services, we can speak of protecting the client and his interests. The private security sector is a relatively new and rapidly developing sector. In modern and developed countries, the transfer of responsibility for security from the state to the citizen and subsequently to the private security service can be observed. The training and education of the individual security services members reflects the scope of their activities. A fully built system of acquiring professional competence and subsequent improvement is the main pillar of a quality service. The method of training and education varies from region to region, depending largely on whether there is legislation on the provision of private security services or whether these services are provided on the basis of a trade license.

The paper is aimed at comparing the system of training and education in the field of private security in relation to the requirements set in the legislation of selected countries. The aim is to identify key differences in training and education of private security members in selected regions and to propose modern forms of training and education in relation to the identified differences with the aim of improving the quality of training of persons performing private protection in Slovakia.
