VIRTUAL PLATFORMS AND TEACHING STRATEGIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC

For educators and students, the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge that requires transformation and adaptation. There is no defined response that can guide education agents and students from higher education to design a rapid response mechanism in specific contexts in long-distance learning while the pandemic continues its course. The objective of this study is to analyze the process of the rapid design and implementation of adaptive response to the educative challenges and to identify the process of alternative learning strategies that educators have had to adapt during the emergency, as well as the students response especially from those who may have difficulties to adapt to long-distance learning. Due to the aforementioned, it is suggested that a group of teaching experts with ample experience in the virtual field define some criteria to evaluate the strategies and platforms, this criteria will be classified by type, subject, and level of complexity on a Likert scale in relationship to the skills that a postgraduate student must have. The platforms and strategies of instruction are coded based on the competences. This helps to identify a range of technological, cognitive, investigative, and socio-emotional skills that help students to better their learning process at the educational institution.

Considering this, it is deemed helpful to indicate to professors the resources that are being designed to achieve the objectives and content of the subjects. This leads to the necessity for the development of strategies on education field. Moreover, many of these resources must also be adapted to the teaching environment. In the second stage of the analysis, students and professors answered an on-line survey about the process of adaptation to this new virtual mode.
This study provides a way to identifying which platforms and strategies favor teaching-learning conditions, for students and professors. In other words, this study helps develop the skills that students need to learn in a more independent manner from home.
It is important to identify on a local scale what the main problems that students and professors face during the pandemic. As we know the pandemic has affected in an abrupt and absolute way to the educational sector. It has brought to light the necessity to trace the fundamental lines to help the vulnerable population that faces unresolved challenges.

Isolation will always be associated with confinement and their consequences in terms of socio emotional balance are going to leave their mark. For this reason, there is an urge to reorganize of our lifestyle, and especially those students with preexisting difficulties in this area. Understanding the general context in this crisis, in which we are all involved as professionals, is something that concerns us all.
