Abstract:
Introduction:
Universities are scientific and intellectual centers which are supposed to solve the most difficult problems facing society. They are also credited for technology innovation and highly qualified personnel. Their activities are basically academic, the direct outputs of which are thought and knowledge which are subject to different principles in terms of production and marketing compared with institutions. The investment in this field is a long-term investment requiring the adoption of an effective management system like knowledge management (KM) to achieve their goals. Universities, are knowledge-oriented and they reflect excellence. They are the ground for assuming principles and practice of KM, which are enthusiastically adopted by the business world.
Thus, the implementation of KM framework in universities has become an clear phenomenon in the globalization age, accelerated technological change, and increased competition.
Therefore, this paper attempts to discuss the use of KM in teaching and learning at universities, and to see whether the use of KM would lead to successful teaching outputs.

Objective:
This paper aims to come up with a vision of successful use of KM applications in teaching and learning at universities. This can be done by proposing an integrated framework to regulate the use of KM at all administrative and educational levels in universities and show the factors affecting the successful use of KM to improve the learning outcomes.

The importance:
The importance of KM stems from the fact that the use of KM at universities is still in need for further research and study. This is because KM system as one of modern management systems which have not been adopted and applied in this sector at a large scale. Awareness of KM is still in its infancy at universities compared with its status in the business sector.
Therefore, it is expected that this paper gives some information about KM in general and its use in teaching in particular. Universities might benefit from the framework proposed regarding the use of KM and they place more emphasis on the need of further research on how universities can benefit from KM in managing its affairs.

The suggested framework:
The suggested framework based on a set of assumptions as follows:
1- The successful use of KM in managing the university requires a holistic integrated view of KM applications, and involvement of academics, the management and students in this system.
2 –The factors affecting the successful use of KM by academics and management. are: awareness of KM and exercising its operations.
3 - The factors affecting students' successful learning are: awareness of KM, exercising its operations, curriculum, teaching methods, learning skills, readiness, motivation, learning environment.
4- The use of KM at universities leads to improvement of learning outcomes.
5 - Successful learning outcomes are linked with the academics' success in evaluation process and achieving necessary improvements.
6 - Learning outcomes are the main inputs of institutions.
7 - Assessment of the success of learning outcomes is identified by the feedback provided by different institutions.
