Abstract:
The presented study addresses the problem of the learning process organization within the context of training of the translators in the high-tech field.

As a specific type of translation activity, the localization of software and computer games includes its own standards for work with the material and for the range of professional competences, which the future translator has to acquire to successfully fulfill the localization process. The purpose of the article is to comprehensively characterize the components of this process and describe the challenges that the specialists face during their work.

The translator works with a combination of literary, technical and legal translation in its written and audiovisual forms. In the process of working the translator has to take into consideration a large number of various extra-linguistic factors, inter alia, the necessity to understand the principles of work with a code, tags and variables. The understanding of the culturalization essence, the ability to work with computer-assisted tools or CAT-tools, glossaries and translation memory.

Consequently, training of translators-localizers is a comprehensive process, which has interdisciplinary nature. Wherein, the localization is relatively new type of translation, and therefore, there is a small number of research works, addressing this question in terms of training of the students at the faculties of translation.

The materials of the research may be used in translation theory, linguaculturology, as well as in the process of students training in the domain of high technologies.
