Abstract:
Ten years after a new professional study program in the Civil Engineering Department was established at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences, it was decided to undertake a deep analysis of the program's success. The Quality Management Team discussed the methods, these were presented to the Head of the Department, he invited the teaching staff and the student support officers to a meeting. The whole process was explained and discussed at this meeting. The teams were formed to analyze closely related subjects - for example, Engineering Mechanics, Hydraulics and Soil Mechanics, or Geotechnical Engineering, Concrete Structures and Steel Structures etc. - in each team about 3 representatives of teaching staff and at least 3 representatives of students. The first meeting of each of the teams was organized to recognize the problems, the second one to discuss the possible solutions, and the third one to propose improvements. Additionally, the alumni were invited, and employers of our former students as well as potential employers of our students were included. All the proposals were balanced and discussed in a smaller team, and with all the members of the teaching staff who would be asked to make some changes. Then the renewed program was proposed to and accepted by the Council of the Department and the University.
