Abstract:
There is a growing social demand for educational systems to lead the way towards more sustainable development by implementing sustainable practices in their own campuses and teaching programmes. Universities are identified as critical actors in driving change. As such, they need to play an active role in meeting the United Nations Sustainability Agenda and its challenges. Entrepreneurial education emerges as critical in ensuring the development of academic and professional training that brings change to existing business models. The integration of highly entrepreneurial programmes, curriculum development attuned to current and emerging business challenges, with support of technologies and innovation requires a different pedagogical approach. Sustainability challenges requires the integration of lifelong professional development for business innovators. Through entrepreneurial education it will be possible to develop critical competencies, including entrepreneurial self-efficacy, system thinking, problem-solving, innovation, and transdisciplinarity. However, to engage in more proactive and integrated learning processes there is a need of different approaches towards teaching, learning and doing research. In this paper we explore the disruptive dimension of the circularity of knowledge understood within the Circular Pedagogy framework, a novel and innovate framework as we explore its potential to support and develop entrepreneurial mindsets.
