Abstract:
Many Universities revise their curricula trying to reduce the quantity of academic hours, intended for training a foreign language particularly Business English subject. Students are not able to fulfill all the requirements for mastering lexical and grammatical material, working with texts, listening, speaking and writing for the classroom time presented in the curriculum. This problem can be solved by the introduction of a special e-course to study this subject. The main objective of this paper is to provide an alternative approach to solving the problem of teaching a foreign language, namely, to teach students to learn a foreign language using e-education resources. Before each unit, University students are provided with methodological recommendations for task performance, working with course elements including a detailed description of how to do each task and how to cope with probable difficulties such as phonetic, lexical, grammar, etc. Each unit is supplied with glossary of the unit. There is also a flexible evaluation system for teachers aimed to speed up task checking. This system is the accumulation of points and ranking each student according to their results. A variety of feedback methods are offered. For example, after completing a writing assignment, students do not type the text in word document, but write on the sheets of paper, scan and send it in jpeg format. The paper proposes various activities for students who master this language course. For example, for speaking practice, a lesson in the form of a forum is proposed. The topic, plan and questions of the forum are offered in advance. The key point of using such e-education resource in the higher education system is that this e-course is based on the basic textbook, which is taught in the classes of the University. The article also presents the comparative evaluation results of two groups of students studying in the e-course and in a regular class. According to the results of this study, we can conclude that the e-learning system has yielded positive results and is presented in various summary tables.
