Abstract:
This workshop was organized to promote students' cognition and expression of the relationship between flat composition, spatial form, construction materials and user behavior. The aim of this project was to discuss and evaluate the progressive achievement from unconscious creation to rational interpretation. It is based on the transformation of dimension from image to space, and the evolution of meaning from site to place through a variety of mediums and related activities. Every dynamic was based on the open quality of the topic and the flexibility of the process.

It was organized a short-term design exercise for students of different majors, and was focused on the exploration and interest of the changing acts during the work process. It encourages students to think, perceive, and reflect through practices, that is, "learning by doing." The results present the continuous evolution of spatial meaning in different mediums and scales, from a collective initial collage to individual final models.

The ten-day activity was organized by Southeast University, China, held by School of architecture, cooperated with Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Spain. It was carried out both online and offline, and was open to students of all majors. Teachers of the two schools jointly participated in the whole process of teaching plan formulation, thematic lectures, stage reviews and final defense. The students enrolled in the design workshop had a broad academic background with majors in architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, transportation, Chinese literature and music composition.
