With the development of networks and online translation services, Google translation has played a great part in translation. On the basis of large parallel and monolingual corpora, Google Language Tools has achieved greater readability in translation. By selecting sentences and passages, the author attempts to deal with the flaws in English-Chinese translation by comparing Google translation with Microsoft Bing translation. A comparative test run of Google Language Tools and Microsoft Bing shows that there exists room for improvement in the translation mainly in the following five areas of sentence order, separation of semantic groups, choice of polysemous words, sentences with partial negation and attributive clauses. The aim of the study is to find a better translation engine and a better version upon online translation. It follows that Google Language Tools is a better facilitator in translating phrases and semantic groups while human modification after machine translation is still essentially necessary and the improvement upon the post-translation of machine translation should be A COMPARATIVE CASE STUDY OF GOOGLE AND BING TRANSLATION made in the five aspects.
