Abstract:
The concept of cross-disciplinary teaching includes a determination of the types of knowledge to which investigation-based learning should be oriented. In this paper the authors present a project for the implementation of a discipline specific to psychology within a specialization in the field of engineering. The purpose of the targeted discipline is to familiarize students from the specialization transport and traffic engineering with the main theories notions of applied psychology in the field of transport. Students will also know both the main individual variables associated with traffic behavior and the main problematic behaviors that can lead to traffic accidents. The cross-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approach in teaching psychology at the Faculty of Engineering – specialization transport engineering aims to develop a holistic vision on the specific aspects of transport psychology. Thus, future engineers specialized in transport and traffic will be able to use the statistical data on accidents caused by the human factor in a holistic way to optimize traffic.

The study was carried out over 420 hours, over 19 weeks and was applied to a target group of 30 students from the 3rd year from the Specialization of Transport and Traffic Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering in Sibiu. Each proposed activity was allocated from the outset a time that was represented in a Gant chart that was taken into account throughout the project implementation. The paper also presents the teaching methods and means specific to the activities that were designed before and after the completion of the study.
