Abstract:
In the last decades, the academic tutorial function has been evolving in parallel according to the needs of the environment of the educational models of the Institutions of Higher Education (HEIs).

In this sense, this tutorial function has become a substantive activity in the school trajectory of the students of higher education and in the successful completion of their studies. Through the figure of the academic tutor, overcoming issues that put at risk their school enrollment in pursuit of bypass university dropout, which is a variable that has become frequent in HEIs.

Without a doubt, it is vital to incorporate a greater number of teachers in the tutorial function, to meet the needs of students with great commitment and responsibility.

That is why this quantitative research emerges, focused on knowing the percentage of assistance that teachers submit, to attend students in their tutorial function. This research was carried out in an HEI of Open Teaching System, of the Economic-Administrative Area, including a period of study from August 2013 to January 2018, whose purpose is to identify strategies to strengthen its operability and consolidate its Tutorial System, endorsing the adoption and implement them in an institutional manner.
