Abstract:
The development of harmonic hearing is an important component of music teachers’ training. Based on the designed model for developing harmonic hearing of future music teachers, the paper investigates the didactic principles underlying the construction of practical musical material oriented towards developing harmonic hearing. The paper provides generalized results of training future music teachers, obtained within the frame of a formative experiment, which can be used as the basis for designing a methodological aid on developing harmonic hearing.

Purpose of the study:
To define the content and the structure of the Textbook, using the didactic model for the development of future music teachers’ harmonic hearing.

The research showed that the highest results were produced by indicators relating to students’ practical music making – polyphonic singing and intoning intervals and chords. This can be attributed to the choral singing traditions of Latvian culture and to students’ interest in original non-standard types of classes, which greatly contribute to the development of imagination and thinking.
Keywords:
