Abstract:

Nowadays the role and place of efficient and productive translation as a means of communication in international cooperation between different countries are undoubtedly crucial and vital. English and German are used as languages of international dialogue and act as some vital bridge in numerous spheres of human activities, such as science, art, and industry. These languages can be evidently defined as a unique means of specific communication of professionals in the world. Therefore, to reach the highest level of mutual understanding in special and professional areas it is necessary for any professional or specialist, including teachers and students as well, to realise that learning and teaching English and German should be aimed not only at memorising words and constructions of common language but also at analysing elements and structures of languages for special purposes (LSP) to be able to use them in some particular situations determined by specific data.

In achieving this objective besides numerous traditional methods and approaches to teaching translationt he the authors consider the following aspects:
a) in special purpose language training it is necessary to focus on terminological and nomenclative units, units of professional popular language; attributes of professional discourse;
b) among the helpful means of putting the acquired language material into practice terminological banks and databases and language corpora used for the analysis of special language; also some testing and assessment systems that allow to emulate real life situations in which language trainees may meet practical value of the LSP they are learning.
