Abstract:
The strategic framework for European co-operation in education and training (ET 2020) underlines the need to promote the modernisation agenda for higher education to improve the quality and efficiency of education and training.
The Universities have an important role to play in future. One of the main strategies is to stimulate the student’s autonomy and how to develop creativity and innovative attitudes. The higher education program encourages the best use of teaching and learning techniques based on ICT(information and communication technologies).
Our innovation team has adapted to the European Higher Education Area model the food analysis experimental teaching in different degrees: Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, and Human Nutrition and Dietetics. The knowledge of the analytical procedures in food analysis is essential to Health Sciences students.
An audiovisual material has been developed in Power Point, describing the different analytical methods. Videos of the experimental procedures performed in the laboratory by the teacher have been filmed with a digital video camera. This material has been transferred to a PC and edited with specific software; it will serve as a support to experimental teaching.
A DVD in Spanish and English language has also been developed. It describes the analytical methods with the aim that Spanish and foreign students, by means of the “UCM Campus Virtual,” might have a tool to facilitate their learning.
