The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted on December 13, 2006, was signed by the Polish government on March 2007. The area of education was subject to evaluation.

Method:

Results:
Analysis of information and data obtained from participants in debates, own observations and their generalization allows to state that the most serious problems are: lack of schools and integration classes in small towns, lack of required resources and didactic aid in schools, lack of such measures in relation to students with disabilities, lack of necessary rehabilitation equipment, limited access to technical means, limitations in access to information. The sources of barriers were: economic barriers, mental barriers, lack of understanding of disabled people's problems in society, lack of competence of people responsible for disabled peoples education organization and negligence of employees which make decisions about supplying schools with modern technical means and teaching aid, lack of specialist staff in educational institutions, reluctance of parents with able-bodied children to create classes and integration schools, lack of information on the values of integrational education in local environments, long wait time and bureaucracy regarding applications for education of disabled children, long waiting time for specialistic psycho-pedagogical research and required opinions, absence of so-called "Basket of educational services" for students with disabilities which would take into account the greater number and diversity of individual classes, the lack of universal planning in expenditures for educational purposes, lack of adjustment of social institutions to the needs of disabled people, lack of vision of the development of the education system which would consider the development of modern civilization, lack of a clear system of assistants guides and translators for a disabled person, insufficient social awareness on the topic of the role of early support and prevention in the field of activities aimed at the good of people with disabilities, the education system limiting teachers in the field of possibilities of a more personalized and creative work, embarrassing innovations, the lack of a system for monitoring the transfer and spending of educational subsidies.

Conclusions:
Based on identified barriers proposals regarding their overcoming were formulated. Attention was paid to the need of correlating the activities of the Ministry of National Education and organizations functioning for the benefit of people with disabilities, creating specialist training centers for parents and teachers at special educational institutions, wider openness to people with disabilities of the secondary, post-secondary, and higher education system for adults.
