Abstract:

In the current context, marked by rapid environmental degradation and the emerging scarcity of natural resources in various parts of the world, the automotive industry faces significant challenges due to its notable environmental impact. This situation includes everything from resource exploitation to emissions generated by vehicles, as well as manufacturing processes. Given this reality, it is imperative to adopt a more sustainable approach to mitigate negative impacts and contribute to a more promising future.

The aim of this work was to examine the importance of environmental awareness in the automotive industry, focusing on the preparation and design of projects that incorporate clean technologies and low emissions. To achieve this, a methodology that included the review of specialized literature, case studies of different companies within the sector, and interviews with automotive engineering students was adopted. This approach allowed capturing, from a broad and detailed perspective, the importance of adopting sustainable measures and the sector's future expectations.

The review of literature and interviews with automotive engineering students have revealed a clear trend towards sustainability within the automotive industry, highlighting the adoption of cleaner supply chains, the use of green energies, and the choice of sustainable materials, with a particular focus on vehicle electrification as a significant, albeit not definitive, step towards mitigating environmental impact. Concurrently, future professionals in the sector show a marked concern for keeping up to date with the latest technologies and actively prepare to face the demands of an evolving industry, expressing a strong interest in developing innovative solutions that minimize emissions and promote clean technologies, evidencing their commitment to current environmental challenges.
