Abstract:

The fast-paced changes in the technology world and the application of supportive technologies in education have fundamentally altered the landscape of training and learning. Smart Labs, for example, as technology-equipped environments can offer a large range of support for teachers and students. The contribution of this work is introducing a customized Smart Lab for supporting teachers in designing, developing, and delivering their training courses as well as supporting students in developing their skills. The Smart Lab should be integrated into the training courses and the authorized teachers and students can benefit from the services and equipment provided. The applicability and effectiveness of the Smart Lab are conceptually assessed in three EU projects. The main outcome of this work will be then used by the projects as a foundation for implementing and developing their Smart Labs in the real world. Each project can adapt the services and equipment of its Smart Lab according to the needs of teachers and students and the recourses available.
