Abstract:
Distance education is actively developed in schools around the world. In Russia, the development of distance education is initiated by the authorities, and schools have a number of economic and reputational motives for their implementation. At the same time, distance learning is ambiguously assessed by the expert community, first of all we mean researchers and managers in education. The article reviews the existing research on this topic, analyzes the main results of the state programs for the development of distance education in Russian schools. The emphasis is placed on the perception of distance learning technologies by the parent community as the most important subject of the educational process. The attitude of parents to distance education was studied on the basis of a representative survey. The empirical research was conducted in 2019 by the method of questionnaire survey of parents of schoolchildren in Yekaterinburg (N-7281). The practical significance of the results is associated with the possibility of their use for making informed management decisions in the field of strategic planning of education - in particular, further improvement of programs for the development of the school system.
