Abstract:
To meet the directives from the resolutions adopted at Bologna on Higher Education Studies, The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) through its Vice-Chancellor of Quality and Teaching Innovation is developing a teacher training program on active teaching methodologies named ERAGIN, a word that in the Basque language means IMPACT. The first aim of the program is to facilitate the use of active methods for teaching and learning (problem-based learning (PBL), project-based learning (PrBL) and case-based learning (CBL)). And the second would be to contribute to the production of teaching materials and case scenarios and problem-based learning projects, in Basque, Spanish and English, through common, scientifically validated criteria. In this context, this paper shows the experience of applying case-based learning (CBL) to the subject of Business Economics: Investments, relating to the Business Administration degree course of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Donostia-San Sebastian. We analyse the method developed, the assessment system used and the results obtained. In addition, we give the students' evaluation on the case method as an active methodology and its contribution to the development of skills and their degree of satisfaction with these learning methodologies.

The case of study is what we have translated as “Those over there are not giants but windmills” and we have three documents written and ready to be showed in the Conference. The first one is the case itself describing the situation in which one person in a firm has to make a decision about an investment. The second one is the teaching note of the case. And the last document is the final report to describe different items of the implementation and the results obtained.
