Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to adapt a scale that originally measures narrative engagement related to communication into a scale that focuses on engagement in digital story. In this sense, a total of 102 college students was recruited to respond the scale according to the effect of digital stories used following a four-weeks training period. The opinions of the field experts were consulted in terms of language validity of the scale while following the procedure. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with the data set were conducted after achieving language validity. The scale includes 12 items and 4 subscales. The calculated Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the scale was .918. The calculated Cronbach Alpha coefficient for subscales were found as respectively .910, .826, .777 and .815. In conclusion, it has been concluded that the adaptation of this scale can be employed to integrate digital stories into educational contexts, by measuring the effect of digital stories on learning environments.
