Abstract:
There is a tornado of social economic and technological challenges on the horizon. Education is aimed at realizing and actualizing human potential.
It is indeed universally recognized that global awareness and international experience are key components of education. Internationalization has thus come to symbolize meeting global standards with reference to campus, curricula and personnel.
It also helps to open wide the doors of global understanding through promoting and expanding educational exchange opportunities. As the nations and economies of the world become more interwoven so do the people of the world become aware of the possibilities for products, cultures and travel. Mobility of students and scholars has perhaps never been more of an option now than in the history of the modern world.
This paper will thus focus on how international study is an opportunity to share perspectives, debate ideas, develop the bond of friendships, create openings for collaborative efforts in research and publication. By integrating an international exposure in the educational programs with the help of Semester Abroad Programs, Summer Schools, other exchange programs, Universities prepare their students for the work force and for a global future.
It will then deal specifically on the challenges for the Asian/Indian Universities to replicate the successful working models adopted by the Western and European Universities as well as how Western and European Universities should adopt a more pro-active Asian stance.
