Abstract:
There is so much written about the role of case studies in business schools classrooms. When the role of case studies is discussed, it is usually in relation to the case discussion at the end of each chapter of business text books, rather than about what does and does not the case require to be discussed within a group of students working like a team, exploring all what they can to solve the dilemma. How simple or elaborated a case is depends on what you want your students to be able to do in the course. Compared with traditional teaching, case study method of teaching is an interactive learning approach, which changes the role of students from passive participants to active learners. This paper seeks to explore the type of cases that are really needed to develop the student’s skills in communication, problem solving, and critical thinking.
