Abstract:
This report examines the impact of modern information and communication technologies on the activities carried out in the modern library, as well as the implementation of adequate professional training for librarians in the digital age. Today, librarians are not only guardians of knowledge but also navigators in the all-encompassing ocean of information.

In a world that constantly imposes the trend of lifelong learning, transformation is observed not only in the forms of communication and the ways of conducting the educational process but also in access to educational resources. All these changes lead to a change in the requirements for knowledge, skills, and competencies of human resources in all institutions "of the future".

Emphasis is placed on the integration of modern innovative methods for conducting the educational process in the field of vocational education and training, by integrating modern ICT in order to train highly qualified specialists to meet the challenges of the labor market.

To prepare the "librarians of the future" cultural and educational institutions must collaborate in order to prepare training that preserves the traditions of the library profession, but at the same time adequately prepare the "librarians of the future" to face the challenges they face in the "digital age".

For the purpose of the present study, the experience of the Center for vocational training at the University of library studies and information technologies in the training of library specialists, through various forms of qualification and retraining, as well as participation in the Erasmus project „Boosting digital skills and competencies for librarians in Europe“ designed to enhance the digital skills of library specialists in Europe.
