Abstract:
Accommodation of eyes to see both far and near distance is a fascination and blur vision is a common problem in all society. Understanding our eyes and how it functions can help students understand and appreciate the working of this two small intricate parts of our body and the causes of blurred vision in life. Challenges seen in teaching the topic on eyes are students’ difficulty in explaining the changes that take place during image processing and causes of blur vision. To address this problem, this study was carried out to investigate the effectiveness of a developed hands-on model based learning cycle unit on students’ understanding of human eye accommodation and common eye defects. This case study was carried out with 57 grade ten students in a high school in Bhutan. The results from pretest and post-test showed a significant enhancement of students’ conceptual understanding on human eye accommodation and common eye defects. Keywords:
