Abstract:
This paper aims at investigating students learning enthusiasm in view of College English online learning under the influence of Covid-19. We first introduce the differences in teaching and learning under Covid-19. The study was set up as an extension of a fourteen-week experiment involving students of Grade two from Anshan Normal University (N=56). Tapping into students’ use of online learning devices, device convenience, preference for F2F or online learning and students’ enthusiasm for online learning. Data were collected following a pre-, mid-, and post-test administration of the survey. The results of the three tests within the fourteen-week online learning show – next to info about the actual learning environment set up - there is no significant difference in student’s enthusiasm for English online learning when comparing pre-, mid- and post-test. This leads to a discussion about ‘drivers’ that might explain enduring enthusiasm for online learning. Further research could delve into these design characteristics and how current and future online learning can be improved; especially when the pandemic situation seems to be continue for a longer period of time.
