Abstract:
This research examines the integration of real-world industry challenges into business school curriculums and its implications for the student experience. Our mixed-methods approach, which includes qualitative interviews and quantitative analysis of course evaluations and surveys, captures diverse perspectives from both students and faculty. This methodology offers a comprehensive view of the student experience within this innovative curriculum design. Incorporating industry challenges into business education provides students with a realistic glimpse into post-graduation expectations and enhances networking opportunities. However, this approach also presents certain challenges, such as the ambiguous nature of real-world tasks leading to assessment anxieties and the difficulty of aligning a single project with diverse career aspirations.
Our study emphasizes the "3Es" approach: the first "E," Engage, illustrates the importance of engaging students with a curriculum that mirrors real-world scenarios, making learning more relevant and immersive. The second "E," Elevate, focuses on nurturing an environment of authenticity and safety, which is crucial for elevating the entire learning experience. This environment allows students to confidently explore their potential and push their boundaries. The final "E," Excel, is evident in the improvements in student satisfaction and engagement, as demonstrated by course evaluations and surveys. Students report a stronger sense of community and a clearer understanding of the curriculum's relevance to real-world problem-solving. This research aims to guide educators in effectively navigating industry-university collaborations, highlighting the potential of a continuous feedback loop among all stakeholders. Keywords:
