FOOD AND NUTRITION EDUCATION AS A LITERACY PRACTICES IN ADOLESCENTS OF PUBLIC SCHOOL IN THE CITY OF SÃO GONÇALO DO AMARANTE, RN, BRAZIL

Abstract:
Adolescents constitute a group exposed to nutritional risk, due to their eating habits. Often omit meals such as breakfast, or replace meals such as lunch for snacks, in addition to consume, with high frequency, large quantities of soft drinks. The high intake of caloric and processed foods of poor nutritional value noteworthy, considering that such consumption has been linked to obesity not only as for the volume of food, but also the composition and quality of the diet. This type of dietary changes observed in all regions of Brazil, as well as in the various parts of the world, characterize the nutritional transition which is recurring in the demographic transition and epidemiological transition, they are results of sociocultural, economic processes and individual behaviour. In this sense, the objective of this work is to contribute to the formation of healthy eating habitus of the students of the school, families and teachers, through the holding of workshops on Food and Nutritional Education and literacy practices. This article is the result of data generated with 17 students of the 5th year of junior high school to a public school of São Gonçalo do Amarante-RN,Brazil, from a qualitative participatory methodology. The activities of the Food and Nutritional Education workshops were held initially in the form of lectures as conversation, followed by wheel dynamics, games and tricks. Recreational activities were associated with the execution of culinary workshops with the preparation of healthy recipes, contributing to the construction of the students ' familiarity with the smell, taste, form and nutritional value of foods, arousing interest for healthy eating habits. The elaboration of the “cordel” literature book was held with the effective participation of the students, with the collaboration of a poet “cordelista”. In this task, was initially the explanada the history of “cordel”, followed by workshops where he worked the composition of that literary genre. In sequence, the students developed their individual productions and also collective, from the theme addressed, namely, healthy nutrition. The results include, video recordings and records in pictures, book launch with the participation of the local community and written production “cordel” literature book entitled "Healthy Living" whose choice of literary genre in addition to skills development written by the students, stimulates creativity, enhances the historical and cultural heritage of the people of northeastern Brazil and contributes to the rescue of the “cordel” literature.Keywords:
