Abstract:
For pursuing superiority and enhancing school quality, school teacher must be in charge of this key role. Teacher efficacy is also mainly held by strong working motivation, whereas teacher motivation may be encouraged by promoting workplace spirituality and psychological capital. However, the prior studies were not conducted to explore the relationships among the workplace spirituality, psychological capital, and teacher motivation. Hence, the study of this issue had more value on innovation and applicability. This study first aimed to compare the demographic differences of elementary school teachers on workplace spirituality, psychological capital, and teacher motivation. Then, it was to examine the interrelations among workplace spirituality, psychological capital, and teacher motivation. Finally, the main purpose of this study was to explore the impact of workplace spirituality and psychological capital on teacher motivation.

This study utilized the questionnaire survey method. The research subjects were 348 teachers from different elementary schools. Through investigating and analyzing, the measures of workplace spirituality, psychological capital, and teacher motivation were reliable and valid. Next, male elementary school teachers demonstrated higher efficacy and resilience of psychological capital than female teachers. Also, elementary school teachers with more years of experience exhibited higher efficacy, hope, and psychological capital, whereas teachers with less years of experience expressed higher workplace spirituality. Moreover, there were statistically significant positive correlations among workplace spirituality, psychological capital, and teacher motivation. Finally, workplace spirituality and psychological capital were the best indicators of teacher motivation. The implication of this study for the school organizations is that they need to promote workplace spirituality and psychological capital of teachers, which in turn evoke teacher motivation and increase school competitive advantage.
