Abstract:
During the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017 (SOWWG2017) in March 2017 which took place in Austria a group of network engineering students of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences were responsible for planning, configuring and maintaining of all computer network connections. The preparations were done directly in corresponding lectures and the work was embedded in a project task within a duration of two weeks.

This paper shows the effort and degree of difficulty of jobs in the field of an ICT engineer for big sport events which must be done by students under supervision. But it is also a big challenge for the professor to train the students according the pending tasks. Both, student and professor must have good experiences in co-operating together during a tight time schedule. So, one of the aim is to bring the theoretical and practical skills in computer science and network engineering together in the framework of a big sport event. And the second is to improve the social skills for empathic collaboration, successful team work and a sensitivity about time management.
