Abstract:
Today, programs are focusing on the development of competencies (Methods, Knowledge, Social). Courses and methods are widely focusing on learning arrangements to be used in class rooms. Our focus is on the development of arrangements in distributed environments.

Thus, we are transferring competency development into the digital edge. We select competencies that we are considering as key competencies in our subjects, namely communication skills, reviewing skills and people management skills. We introduce learning arrangements to build these skills. The acquired competencies are the applied to real world projects using collaborative tools as shared drives, shared documents, mail or hangouts. We then develop assessment criteria to monitor the competency development.

In our ongoing research, we let the students chose, how they want to work together: digital or class room based. We are defining indicators for successful usage collaboration and compare results of the different learning environment. In our paper we are discussing the preliminary results of our research.
