Abstract:
New internet technologies make learning process more attractive and diverse. Students intuitively use computers, tablets and smartphones besides school. Transfer of knowledge by image, sound and motion, used in web applications, enhances the effectiveness of learning. Though, changes in modern technology occur so quickly, that educational systems in Poland are unable to keep up to date with implementing modern teaching materials. Due to this, teachers usually apply traditional, proven education methods. However, IT teachers are able to prepare attractive teaching aids on their own, using the newest standards. The example of such aid is the author’s educational internet service. The service concentrates on interactive forms of teaching algorithmics.
The article presents quantitative indicators comparing the effectiveness of learning and students’ satisfaction with their achievements in the difficult area of algorithmics. The research was done using specially designed web application. The application was made using the newest internet standards (HTML5, CSS3). This allowed to impressively visualise issues discussed on computer science lessons in secondary schools. The research was conducted on randomly selected group of first grade pupils. The results have been developed on the basis of questionnaire, in which students judged the effectiveness of their learning using the educational web service in comparison to most common, traditional teaching methods. Keywords:
