IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS WITH VIDEO-SHARING WEBSITES. FRAMEWORK OF E-LEARNING VIDEO COURSE FOR STUDENTS OF LOGISTICS

Abstract:
Nowadays video materials are used not only for entertainment but also to improve knowledge and skills and create right attitudes. Pupils, students, workers use ICT to have fun, for educational (scientific) purposes but also for business reasons. The video content published on global video-sharing websites can be a source of valuable information and can be used to increase effectiveness of learning processes. Video materials are often used by university staff and business representatives in order to present their areas of interests, achievements, research results, products or services. That kind of polished materials can accelerate diffusion of knowledge and skills. Many video-sharing websites offer also simple tools for creating own learning materials like training films, interactive presentations, lists or channels, therefore can be successfully used for developing own e-learning skills.
The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of use of video materials and tools available on YouTube in teaching process and propose the framework of course for business students based on video content. In the first part of the article the author presents educational values of YouTube, characterizes tools available on the platform that can be used for developing and publishing the e-learning courses. Presents also the characteristics of other popular video-sharing websites that can be used in learning process.
The second part of the article contains the framework of video course for business students that is consisted of three main parts: searching for learning materials with YouTube searching mechanism (for the beginners), creating own course using hyperlinks to video materials published on video-sharing platform (merging YouTube with LMS platform – for intermediate users) and finally developing own video courses using tools available on YouTube (for advanced users). The author presents main advantages of using video-sharing platforms in learning process but also indicates barriers and problems that may occur during the course preparation and realization.Keywords:
