Abstract:
Background:
Undergraduate (UG) student nurses in the UK are required to have a community placement to meet requirements if the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Community placements involve students working closely alongside community nursing teams to undertake visits to patients’ home and residential care settings. During the pandemic facilitating community based placements posed specific challenges due to shared transport with teams and limited office space leading to concerns about social distancing (Norman and Meszaros, 2021). A strategy to address these challenges was the creation of a 360 e learning resource. Using 360 simulation in nurse education is an effective learning pedagogy to develop knowledge and skills. This presentation focuses on a 360 community nursing scenario filmed using an experienced community nurse and simulated patient in a home environment.

Method:
The approach to the development of the resource followed the Design Thinking and ASPIRE model.
A scoping exercise was conducted with lecturers and the consensus was that a community nursing scenario would be an innovative focus for the project. The nurse academic created a realistic community nursing scenario, namely wound care and wrote a comprehensive script for the community nurse and simulated patient. The project team created the scenario script focusing on:
- Scene description
- Voice over content
- Equipment required
- Potential hot spots for student to target to deepen knowledge and understanding.

The learning technologist used an existing Reusable Learning Object (RLO) template to incorporate script dialogue, 360 scenario and scene description. Hot spots were embedded in the 360 platform linking to existing RLOs.

Evaluation:
Students watched two versions of the video; one version with audio and one version with no accompanying audio. Students were asked to complete a short online questionnaire.
The resource was additionally piloted with a multi professional hospital based Occupational Health Team.
The final evaluation will use Fokides and Arvaniti (2020) questionnaire.

Findings:
Initial evaluation indicate positive student experience with particular reference to usability and accessibility and the real life immersive experience.
360 camera in a real setting enhanced the learning
Easy access at any time of the working week
It was visually stimulating and interesting
I can apply the knowledge. Because I could process the information as in a real natural environment.

Conclusions:
Demands on community placements are increasing. 360 simulation in nurse education is an effective learning pedagogy to develop knowledge and skills. Implementing real life scenarios is a means of translating learning into clinical practice (Gunowa et al, 2018).Findings to date indicate that the 360 Community Nursing scenario is an effective educational resource that enhances learning and the UG experience.
