Abstract:
I will discuss the development of on-line blended courses at Ohio Valley University. I will show participants how they can integrate tools from their course-management system one step at a time.

Blended (hybrid) courses allow teachers and students to extend their interactions beyond the classroom. It allows for student access to assignments, resources, grades and communication tools 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Course management systems are becoming more and more available at all levels. In this session we will consider advantages in using a course management system (CMS) as part of a face-to-face course. We will consider what CMSes are being used, and what aids are available to help us use them.
We will look at how to set up a course in a CMS, examine some of the available tools common to most course management systems, and discuss how to use them with our students. My goal is to help participants feel comfortable with implementing the use of their course management system in their classes. It is not necessary to learn all of the tools at once. Learn and implement them a ‘nibble’ at a time.'
Participants will leave with specific instructions on how to set-up an online course site, and how to use some of its tools.
