Abstract:
Mixed Reality is recently becoming a useful educational tool. Researches indicate it has numerous benefits for teaching and learning environments, but also some challenges that should not be neglected. As in any educational innovation, the emphasis should be on using each technological tool when it has an added value for teaching and learning.

This study describes how Inservice teachers, as part of a graduate course for master's degree in technology in education, were asked to define a learning goal in their teaching, that can be fulfilled using mixed Reality better than with other methods. After defining the learning goal and choosing the specific application, students developed a lesson plan, tried the lesson with some students, and discussed the experience with their peers.

The students experienced various challenges, from defining the necessity to technical issues. Some of them created their own content in VAR applications and planned it to fit the teaching necessities. This paper describes and analyses students' choices, how they used the technology to achieve the learning goal, the challenges they reported and their reflections regarding the experience.
