Abstract:
This research employs artificial-reality (AR) featured courses combined with environmental awareness films in teaching to study the effect by the use of digital technology and media integrated with ecological education. The purpose is to enhance students’ awareness of environmental protection and take care of the Earth. The integration of AR ecological courses and featured environmental protection courses promotes the environmental protection concept and deep plowing environmental awareness on campus. Both qualitative and quantitative researches were employed for one class of the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades by classes two hours a week for twelve weeks. Cohen’s d method was employed to evaluate the effect size between groups. Before and after teaching, Likert five-point scale was used to evaluate the environmental motivation and action effectiveness by a questionnaire survey. The content of this scale includes environmental motivation, awareness, caring, action, and performance. The results show that the use of AR ecological featured courses can effectively promote students’ awareness of environmental protection. The integration of AR ecological education and film teaching course has a substantial effect on students’ environmental protection awareness. Quantitative results show that students have achieved moderate to high effect in terms of environmental motivation, awareness, caring, action, and performance.
