Abstract:

Multi-media lecture notes are provided for our one semester course in "Technical Informatics“. We try to enhance the learning efficiency for hearing impaired students, for foreign language students and for non-attendants. The spoken text during the lecture is recorded and automatically transscribed from speech to text. A subsequent editing and correction process improves the quality of the transscription and the pages from the beamer presentation are added to the timeline of the text. The resulting multi-media document is available as an interactive web application. It is searchable and allows for individual annotations. Technical difficulties, economic issues and available software systems are discussed and put in perspective. The research efforts is conducted in the context of the EU project Net4Voice (http://www.net4Voice.eu).
