Abstract:
In recent years, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational research has arisen as a favorable avenue for addressing the complex challenges in performing educational research. This abstract investigates the application of Senge's (2006) systems thinking framework in harnessing AI technologies to enhance educational research. The main dimensions of systems thinking underline interconnectedness, feedback loops, and understanding holistic perspectives, exploring how AI applications and tools can foster a more profound understanding and deepen the field of educational research.
By employing AI-driven analytics, researchers can analyze immense amounts of data to discover patterns, relationships, and insights that were previously inaccessible or time-intensive. This provides additional factors that impact educational outcomes, including student performance, instruction methodologies, and university policies. Furthermore, AI-powered predictive modeling allows researchers to forecast trends, identify potential interventions, and optimize resource allocation to improve research more efficiently.
However, the effective implementation of AI in educational research requires a systems-thinking mindset. Researchers need to recognize the interconnectedness and complex nature, considering the potential reaction of AI interventions across different stakeholders and subsystems. In addition, ethical considerations, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and equitable access to AI technologies, need evaluation and should be addressed and understood to ensure responsible and inclusive research practices.
In conclusion, by embracing Senge's systems thinking principles, educators and researchers can leverage AI to advance educational research. By grasping educational systems with the aid of AI from an interconnected lens, researchers and educators can further the field by cultivating innovation and ultimately improving learning outcomes for all students.
