Abstract:
The paper examines the advancements in the teaching of English language and communication and the possible measures of integration as they relate to the specific demands of language/communication within and without the military. It defines the overall framework of a language and communication course and how the course aligns with the objectives of the certificate progrmamme. It explores the inclusion of new material, adjustments to existing material and the removal of outdated course content in an attempt to improve teaching and learning in the language and communication classroom. The paper compares the previous structure of the course to the modified version to be implemented in the coming academic year. There is a focus on modifications to the modes of delivery, assessment strategies, course materials utilized and the implementation of additional support measures and the underpinning literature supporting the changes as informed by the diversification of the workplace, advancements in technology and new developments in the scholarship of teaching and learning.Keywords:
