Abstract:
The objective of this presentation is to propose a framework for best practices for corporate training. As trained and experienced education specialists and academicians, we have applied educational theories in practical contexts for the development of eLearning projects in the private and public sectors. Accordingly, we propose our 5 stages of online course development as an applicable model for work contexts. The first stage consists of evaluating existing training and to integrate that which is relevant, as well as develop assisting tools; the second requires assisting content development, developing the storyboard and producing the prototype; the third features the online course being produced; the fourth includes conducting the pilot test and focus group sessions, review their results and applying necessary adjustments; and finally the online course is officially launched in the fifth stage. Our presentation contextualizes the concept of eLearning, details the instructional design and describes the evaluation process. Linkages between theory and practice include the applications of the cognitive-flexibility theory; elaboration theory; cognitive theory of multimedia learning and the redundancy principle. We provide practical examples from online courses we have managed, designed, developed and produced using the tools discussed in the presentation.
