LENGTH OF STUDY AND GPA LEVEL: QUALITY AND PROBLEMS IN EDUCATION PROCESS (CASE OF STUDY)

Abstract:
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Brawijaya University (FMIPA UB) that is an education institution with 3 thousand students, supported by 152 lecturers and 87 staff; has set a standard of the length study of 4 years for undergraduate degree called Sarjana degree. The five year data show that about 30 % students finishing their study more than four years. The factors influencing the period has been identified. One problem causing students to take a longer time to finish their study is a final project. The final project is aimed to develop the student ability in applying their knowledge in reaseach activity by doing a small project. The project should be finished in one semester, unfortunately it takes a time longer. The analysis was conduted to identify the root of the problem. The implemented strategies have been applied to decrease the length of study. Significant results has been achieved in the last few years.Keywords:
