Abstract:
Centre for Earth Resources Research and Management (CERRM) is one of the Excellent Centre established at University Malaysia of Pahang (UMP). This centre that was previously established under the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, focuses on research and consultations within the area of civil and environmental engineering. With the vision to be a prominent Centre of Excellence for Civil Engineering and Natural Resources at National and International level, this centre later became one of the pioneer research centres at the University. With such direction, the centre's director is within the jurisdiction of the Vice Chancellor rather than the dean of the faculty after its first year of establishment. The vast domestic earth and earth resources provide abundance opportunities for this research centre to grow. Higher renewable energy research and development, increasing environmental awareness among the industrial players and emerging green concept in sustainable development with the funding from the government of Malaysia and private sectors are the catalysts for the centre to move forward. Having the supports within the university itself and the government in general, this centre is surely capable to uphold the challenges in order to achieve the premium centre status. Keywords:
