Abstract:
In this contribution it is shown how topics of the area of hydraulics are prepared for the online use and linked with New Media technology. Hydraulic simulations and animations allow demonstrating dynamical processes of flows more easily and clearly with motion pictures than by using conventional two-dimensional figures in textbooks. Hence the idea of an online-based platform arose, which was developed by creating a hypertext-based information system with interactive multimedia elements, like simulations and animations. Finally results of the practical use and future developments are presented. Thereby it is shown how mobile simulations can be used in hydraulic engineering education. It can be shown that online-based systems can enrich teaching and learning by obeying some simple rules.
