Abstract:
This paper shows a short example of a suggestion how to explain the concept of the derivative of the function and the definite integral. This topic could be included in learning materials designed for teachers who work with students that have chosen advanced mathematics as an elective or with high school students who are engaged in mathematics beyond compulsory curriculum. Students often indicate the concept of the derivative using a limit as the most problematic section of the subject. The basic definition of the derivative discourages students from the start because it is based on the limit. So the mentioned topic is usual very unpopular for students not only at secondary schools. In this article we will try to simplify and approximate the concept of the derivative and the integral in different context using a convenient practical example. In the example to explain the concept of the definite integral, the movement of the vehicle in the given section was used. This part of mathematics so could be more comprehensible to students.
