Abstract:
Nazarbayev University is five years old. We employ faculty from almost 50 countries, many of whom have different teaching philosophies and experiences. Here we share our approach to faculty development – in particular our focus on skills enhancement in teaching, learning, and assessment. We describe our differing modes of delivery, ranging from traditional face-to-face sessions to online tutorials and blended learning activities. Our current practices are the collaborative effort of many units: Academic Quality Enhancement; Instructional Technology, Information Technology, Schools, the library and Human Resources. We elaborate on our experience in developing an institutional culture of celebrating and sharing good professional practice. Participants will benefit from advice on strategy, practical tips, and lessons learned in the implementation of our professional development framework and receive access to the online library of resources compiled by the authors. Keywords:
