Abstract:
The paper presents a meta-analytical view of the family influence and other related issues within the context of international comparative view of educational systems. The first part focuses on an insight into the family concept/s within the historical development, including the family functions. The functions of the family are put in contradiction with the functions of school as a type of institution. Interdisciplinary approach is applied, sociology of education tends to dominate within the approach. The latter part employs family-related issues as a perspective to view educational systems in international comparison. Among the monitored indicators the paper analyses and compares data of Education at a Glance 2014, and on the grounds of the analytical-comparative findings there are articulated some further theses, recommendations, and questions. The paper focuses particularly on the indicators related to the influence of parents´ educational attainment and socio-economic status. Keywords:
