Abstract:
Memorix of anatomy is a modern, didactic book that systematically summarizes information from the general, special and topographic anatomy.

Individual chapters of the book describe structure, division and function of particular organs and systems. A large amount of schematic illustrations (1600) supplements the text. In addition to the required information, in each chapter the matters of interest, mnemonics and detail information are listed. Book also presents information from clinical medicine in order to help students to better understand a clinical-anatomical context. Conclusion of each chapter is formed by interactive tables, charts and questions with schematic pictures for effective repetition. Structure of the chapters is based on an unique/original learning Memorix system which has been created in the collaboration with psychologists and andragogists.

Simplicity, complexity and comprehensibility of the book are general elements for successful studying and passing the anatomy exam. Other important factors are abilities to motivate students to learn, concentrate for many hours and involvement of all senses and emotions which are included in the text.

Memorix system:
1. Outline – serves to a quick orientation in the topic;
2. Main content – clear, information are structured from basic to more detailed (step-by-step method);
3. Matters of interest and clinical notes are designed to help a remembering and creating the anatomical-clinical correlations;
4. Charts and tables created for effective revision;
5. Presentation of learnt information – demonstration and discussion in groups have retention rates of information of more than 50%;
6.Questions and pictures to repetition – the last step (all question including the correct answers and number of page where the correct answer is stated)

Memorix team is formed by eight authors, three designers, two main book reviewers and dozens of clinical, preclinical and student reviewers. Noteworthy is a fact that one of two principle authors is Radovan Hudák – medical student at 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. The second is an associate professor - David Kachlík, MD, Ph.D. a clinical anatomist at 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. Along with them, the book was created by a number of anatomists, talented students and experienced clinicians which contribudes to high quality and up-to-dateness of text.

Recently, the English translation, bilingual terminology electronic applications (English/Latin) and flashcards for smart phones and tablets are being intensively prepared as well as an international colaboration with University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine.
