Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the principal’s insights on the challenges preventing school leaders to integrate ICT in the administration of the school units. Therefore, a validated questionnaire was administered to 106 primary school principals and vice-principals who were selected from different educational districts in Greece. Convenience/non-probability sampling was used, since the participants were selected because of their convenient accessibility and proximity to the researcher. The findings indicated that despite the fact that they had a strong desire to use ICT in the school administration processes, they are facing some important barriers. Insufficient technical support at schools, poor infrastructure and little access to Internet and software were considered as the major barriers preventing school leaders to integrate ICT into their everyday activity. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the integration of technologies in the administration of all elementary schools is unified and common, since not all schools have the same technological infrastructure, nor do all the leaders (principals and vice principals) have received the same training and professional development courses.
