Abstract:
The intellectual property is an essential element of the innovative modern economy, and its effective use is becoming increasingly crucial for successful commercial activities. However, intellectual property rights may be the subject of a dispute, in some cases fraught with a complete depreciation of the main assets of the company. Furthermore, although a carefully drawn up contract allows you to reduce the number of likely disputes, periodically, they will, nevertheless, arise. Therefore, it is vital to learn how to prevent and resolve those disputes effectively. Thus, the parties should be familiar with the dispute resolution mechanisms at their disposal.

The intellectual property is the most vulnerable industry in the digital revolution. The powerful influence of the Internet in all spheres of human life poses a challenge set forth by legal scholars for government bodies to improve mechanisms for protecting the legal rights and interests of copyright holders.
In the article, the author discusses the current issues of protecting rights to intellectual property, in particular, the protection of the rights of authors of works using the technology of distributed blockchain registries.

The introduction of blockchain technology into the intellectual property rights management system creates new legal risks. One of the acute issues today is the risk of violation of the technological neutrality of legal regulation. Undoubtedly, the system should precisely reflect legal reality and not replace it. However, due to the fact, the problem of public reliability of such registries arises. Questions arise about the legal status of the operators of such registers and their responsibility for the accuracy of the data contained in them.

The author analyzes the current trends in the implementation of information technologies in the field of protection of intellectual property rights, as well as the impact of high-tech industries on the development of the institution of intellectual property.

The goal is achieved by solving several tasks:
- exploring the features of the legal regulation of intellectual property rights when using the technology of distributed registries;
- identifying the strengths and weaknesses of using blockchain technology in the field of copyright protection;
- highlighting the possibility of using the blockchain system in settlement of disputes in court.

The research methodology is based on both qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as on the method of empirical experiment. The study of distributed ledger technology was carried out using specific research methods, logical, statistical, and content analysis. In work, the author relied on the results of research by domestic and foreign law theorists in the considered and related fields of knowledge.

The results of the study can be used to develop and improve legislation in the field of copyright protection, as well as improving the functioning of judicial and non-curial organizations, law enforcement, research, and educational activities, in particular, during lectures and seminars on private international law, copyright, and patent law courses.
