Abstract:
How can higher educational institutions document whether they are actually succeeding in fulfilling their educational mission? In this presentation, Dr. Vissing will assist participants by providing them practical strategies they can use for assessing the strength of their departments. A four year consultant with the American Sociological Association's Departmental Resources Group (DRG), Dr. Vissing will draw upon common problems that departments in higher education face as they attempt to determine to what degree they have been successful in achieving their goals and objectives. She will also provide practical suggestions about ways in which departments can better determine whether they are able to document the contributions they make to their institutions.
